So you're a 'Life Coach' - what does that even mean though? & How did that happen?

🙇🏻‍♀ When I was in school, I used to get so stressed out when teachers would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. My classmates would chorus their hopes and dreams, many of which also resonated with me, but my avid desire to impact other people’s lives in a beneficial way wasn’t captured within any coveted role. I went on my merry way through undergrad and masters without setting my soul on fire and constantly searching for some embers 🙊🕯🔥

I think this is something a lot of people can probably relate to...we are conditioned in school and college to believe that we should always know who we want to be and what we want to do with our lives and I want to break that stigma. We are allowed to change our minds, be flexible, try new things and adjust to who we become as we grow older, accepting that the person you are at 30 isn't who you were at 18 and that as you grow the things you like doing change as well.

👩🏻‍🎓 For me, I love a lot of things - the main theme being that I love to bring positivity and make an impact by helping others, so when I decided Life Coaching was my journey it all made sense and aligned perfectly for my heart and soul. My Aunty qualified many moons ago so it was always in the back of my head as something I'd love to explore. It was one of those serendipitous moments until the time was right, every year or so I'd look at the dates and either just missed the start date or had some 'major life event' conflicting with one of the weekends for study. I am the type of person that if I'm investing in something I want to give it my all. Eventually the stars aligned, I graduated as a personal and executive life coach in September 2018 - it was a tough and long journey of self discovery and transformation but I knew from the second I started studying I was ready to take on the world and help others get what they truly want out of their lives.

The impact of coaching others gives me an immediate high, watching others transform on front of your eyes over the course of a couple of sessions is truly something you can't replicate. Seeing the joy in their eyes as they accomplish something they have always wanted to, I have had many hours of coaching myself, and it has given me such great enlightenment and allowed me to realise a lot about myself.

👩🏻‍💻 I'm really passionate about spending my life in a constant cycle of self-discovery, trial and error of building my self-help toolkit of what works best for me. I'm a very honest in my experiences and want to break the stigma of everyone and everything being perfect. For me, life is about arming yourself with the right resources and equipment to become more resilient whilst staying true to who you are, and being confident in that self.

I've started this blog to document thoughts, feelings, rambles, discoveries on what I do to try to improve my own life and help others through coaching be it, techniques, exercise, humour and a lot of fun along the way.
